WHAT DO OUR ARTISTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE?
JYOTSNA S KUMAR
I joined Canvas Connections to find my tribe and nourish my creative soul. As an artist working from my home corner, I often felt uncertain about my work. But this collective has already become a safe haven where I can share my true self, learn from others, and grow. I love the diversity of styles, mediums, and experiences that each woman brings. It's inspiring to see how our unique perspectives weave together to create something beautiful. I'm looking forward to deepening connections, exploring new techniques, and supporting one another through the ups and downs of our artistic journeys. With Canvas Connections, I've finally found my artistic home.

Why did you join?
I met and got to know some of the Canvas Connections members during shows held in Singapore over the past 18+months, and found the women to be not only talented but genuinely supportive of each other, and of other artists. I was keen on the group because I admired their various artistic styles, but more so how they worked together collectively—driven in large part by Rajul—to promote and show their work. I was also drawn to the collective’s kind, approachable, and welcoming ethos. When Canvas Connections‘ membership opened earlier this year I jumped at the opportunity. I’m chuffed that I was accepted!
What do you love about the collective?
I love that the group holds firm to the spirit that ‘a rising tide lifts all boats’. Being an artist can be a solitary endeavour, with countless hours spent alone in your studio/workspace. The women in the collective are fabulous artists, but they’re also wonderful champions and cheerleaders—such a vital lifeline.
What are you looking forward to in being part of this group?
I was accepted into the collective this past Spring and I have already benefited from their support and generosity. The women provide a great sounding board, as well as share tips and best practices. I look forward to getting to know them all better, and to learn more about their practice and process. And, of course, art should be seen! The team do an excellent job of scouting great exhibition spaces. Having only just joined, I’m excited to be showing alongside my new sisters in three Canvas Collective exhibitions this year. It’s a good bet that that wouldn’t have happened were I still plugging away solo in my home studio.

Why did you join?
With more than a decade devoted to the pursuit of art, I understand that while art is full of creative potential, it can also be a solitary endeavor. For me, creating art is just one aspect of the journey. I am dedicated to pushing my boundaries and exploring new creative horizons. Canvas Connections perfectly reflects this ethos, with its curated selection of exceptionally talented artists who are driven by similar aspirations.
What do you love about the collective?
As a relatively new member of this remarkable group of talented women artists, I am deeply impressed by the camaraderie and peer support within the community. Members generously share their experiences, challenges, and guidance, offering invaluable support for navigating the highly competitive art world. We learn together and assist one another—it's truly a beautiful and nurturing space to be in.
What are you looking forward to in being part of this group?
I am excited to push my limits as an artist and to showcase more of my work. I look forward to experimenting with new styles and techniques, as well as collaborating with fellow artists on joint projects and community-based initiatives. Being part of this group offers a unique opportunity to grow creatively and contribute to collective artistic efforts.

Why did you join?
The primary reason why I joined this art collective is to collaborate and to build my network. It allowed me to collaborate with other artists, share ideas, and learn from each other's techniques and experiences. Second, would be for the exposure and opportunities that come along. With many exhibitions lined up, it gives me an opportunity to showcase my work to a broader audience.
What do you love about the collective?
However, what I received from this group was way bigger than I expected. I received so much support from my fellow members. A lot of constructive criticism that allows me to grow as an artist. I’m so glad that we also share a lot of ideas and resources too. I also get a sense of belonging and motivation to create, especially during times of creative block or self-doubt.
What are you looking forward to in being part of this group?
I hope that this group get more recognition that it deserves with the art diversity there is in this group .

Why did you join?
I had visited Canvas Connections' group show at the Art House, Singapore in March this year when I met and truly connected with the incredibly talented founding members of the collective. I discovered them to be not only highly experienced and skilled but also very humble, kind, driven and hard working artists. I had felt then, that it would be great to join such a tribe of like-minded people and learn, contribute and grow together in our journey.
What do you love about the collective?
I love the camaraderie and professionalism at work within the collective at every step and each event. The artworks at each show are carefuly curated and suggestions/opinions are welcome, heard and applied, if relevant and sensible. I particularly love that ideas, best practices, and knowledge are freely shared among the artists.
What are you looking forward to in being part of this group?
I am privileged to be a part of this group of such driven, supportive women artists. I feel the collective lives with an underlying ethos to rise upward and together for each one of its members! As such, as I mentioned above, I look forward to learn, contribute and grow together in our wonderful journey.

A great artwork is that which makes a connection with the viewer, and it takes the heart of the artist. Maintaining true introspective artistic self alongside presenting and promoting your art which means understanding art buyers mind can be a tough game.
Being a part of this collective, I have found a bridge between these two sides of the profession. The founders of this collective are artists themselves having their own unique genre and experience (in the art industry), who have cracked this game to be just creativity, creators and creations, leaving the business behind.
Learning, sharing, experimenting, supporting and growing together is the underlying unsaid objective here leading to selflessness and genuineness focusing on pure art, which is also sought by most of the art collectors and art lovers.
BABITA SRIDHAR
Joining the 'Canvas Connections' collective earlier this year was one of the best decisions I've made. I joined to showcase my art at exhibitions, participate in art events, and collaborate with other art enthusiasts. What I love most about the group is that we are all artists supporting each other. The group has grown organically, allowing us to constantly learn from one another. Rajul and the other artists are incredibly helpful, always sharing their knowledge and ready to assist. The exhibition venues Rajul selects are excellent and perfectly suited for art. I've already participated in one exhibition this year through the group and am eagerly looking forward to our annual exhibition in October.
What I love most about being part of this collective is the opportunity to engage with such a diverse range of artistic talents and perspectives. It's invigorating to be surrounded by such a wealth of talent and to learn from the unique experiences and insights of my fellow artists. The collaborative spirit here is incredible. The support and camaraderie I’ve found in this group are unmatched, and it’s inspiring to be surrounded by women who are as dedicated to their craft as I am.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the opportunities for collaborative projects and exhibitions that will allow us to showcase our work to a broader audience. I am eager to continue growing and evolving as an artist, supported by the encouragement and feedback from this amazing group of women. Together, we are not only creating beautiful art but also building lasting connections and making a meaningful impact within the art community of Singapore .

Joining this vibrant collective of women artists at "Canvas Connections" has been an inspiring and empowering experience in my artistic journey.
I was seeking a community where I could connect with other passionate and creative women who share my love for art. I was drawn to this group because of this shared passion for creativity and the incredible sense of belonging that I felt with the original members of the collective. I love the sense of community and support that we offer each other, creating an environment where we can freely exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and inspire one another. We are able to provide and receive constructive feedback and share information on art techniques so freely that it creates an environment of continuous learning and growth.

APARNA CHAKRAVARTY
It started with a group of women artists who came together over coffee and brunches and talked about art, exhibiting their art and seeking out kindered spirits who shared our passion for creativity.
We started Canvas Connections to find a support system, where we would be able to learn and share about art, encourage each other, talk about best practices and showcase our work together. It warms my heart to see how much we have learnt, shared and grown over the past year!
