“Blackbird, Fly” reminds me of my childhood in Victoria, BC. One summer morning, I woke to the boisterous chatter of birds around 530am. Outside my bedroom window, the back garden was floating in a thin fog, and sun’s early rays cast a soft golden light across the mist. Little birds were busily searching for their breakfast in the damp grass, while a few stoic ravens kept watch.
